“Kites instead of drones.” in Parukářka park

We invite you to workshops and a lecture “Kites instead of drones.” Wherever we are, a kite in a blue sky is a beautiful moving image. But the lives of people holding a string in their hand can be very different. In Afghanistan, today in Ukraine, in Palestine and in many other places around the world, children are afraid of clear skies because the weather is ideal not only for flying kites but also for drones. The “Kites instead of Drones” campaign is organised for children around the world living in fear. The campaign is a creative project for young people and was inspired by a true story that took place during the protracted war in Afghanistan.

Drone wars are more than controversial. Most often, it involves punishment carried out without trial on civilians during war. No one checks to see if the site being bombed is actually where the “terrorists” should be. We want to express our disapproval of the use of modern but inaccurate tools by armies around the world that are causing the deaths of hundreds of civilians, including children. They are currently being used in wars in Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Ukraine and many others.

Children around the world should feel safe to do what they like best under blue skies – play, including flying kites. Instead, death may await them.
