Action Week is a challenging event to organise, so help is welcome. The following is a brief list of ways you can support or participate directly in the activities.
[ FUNDING ]
We are a small collective with very limited resources. We are organising Action Week on a voluntary basis and are appealing to you for help with funding. We welcome one-off donations and fundraising events. Collections among friends are also a proven method. Money can be deposited into a bank account or handed over in person. It is already clear that we will have to pay for renting the space for the bookfair and conference, printing promotional materials, travel and accommodation for some participants, etc. We want to make sure that the financial aspect cannot become a reason that prevents someone from attending the event. For this reason, there will also be no admission fee for any of the events held during Action Week, only a cash box for voluntary contributions.
[ TRANSLATIONS ]
Action Week has an internationalist format and people from different parts of the world are expected to participate. The main languages of communication will be Czech and English. Our team wants to ensure that translation will be provided for anyone who does not speak one of these languages. In particular, lectures, workshops, discussions, speeches and information on the infopoint will be translated. It is envisaged that several people will have to take on this task, who can take it in turns to translate and have a break. We also want to post some information on the web and on social media in all available language variations.
[ ACCOMMODATION ]
We need to accommodate people from different countries who cannot afford commercial accommodation. To make it easier to organize, it would be great if you could write down how many people, for how many days you can accommodate in your shared apartment, house, cottage, garden. Your contact details would also be useful, plus information on whether children or pets can be accommodated and whether people should bring sleeping gear such as mattresses, sleeping bags etc. We also encourage those with the means and ability to make their own accommodation arrangements, as our capacity is limited.
[ FOOD ]
We want to make quality vegan food accessible to everyone. Can you provide ingredients or help with cooking, portioning and serving?
[ PROPAGATION ]
Action Week can be promoted by any means possible: word of mouth, mailing lists, blogs, websites, social networks, by distributing flyers, posters and stickers, or by creating graffiti or other street art.
[ PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAMME ]
If you would like to participate as individuals or collectives, please confirm your participation by answering the questions below and emailing us your proposals as soon as possible.
- Who are you / what is your group, how many people will attend? Do you want the name of your group/organisation/project to be published on List of participants at AW2024?
- How would you like to participate? Do you want to organise a presentation, discussion, workshop, screening, concert or anything else?
- Do you need a stand/table for publications and other materials to bring to the bookfair? How big?
- Do you need help with accommodation (and what are your preferences, if any)?
